A grant application was submitted by Hebron Public Schools and DBS Energy to the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Solar Photovoltaic Program for their competitive grant process. The funding supports a self-ballasted solar panel system which is installed on the 1988 and 1970 additions at Gilead Hill School.
There was no upfront capital investment required from the community for this project. This grant provides approximately 50% of the capital investment cost of the solar system. The balance of the project cost is borne by DBS Energy and is amortized through the receipt of energy revenues from the sale of renewable energy to Gilead Hill School.
